LEAVE THE KEY IN YOUR VEHICLE, TURN YOUR 4 WAY FLASHERS ON SO OTHER CARS WILL KNOW YOUR NOT MOVING WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC & YOU DON'T GET HIT AGAIN.. IT IS LEGAL TO MOVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO A PARKING LOT OR AT LEAST OUT OF THE ROADWAY, OUT OF THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC (Law Enforcement encourage you to do so) PLEASE DO FOR YOUR SAFETY & THE SAFETY OF OTHERS. Your not going to cause more damage by moving the vehicle a few 100 ft. The Police will still be able to tell what happend, the speed at the time of the crash, they will not have any problem investigating the crash the same as if the vehicles were left in the roadway, blocking traffic.
As soon as law enforcement arrives,PLEASE be sure to let them know you would like to request a wrecker company before they call for a rotation wrecker. Hopefully after visiting this web-site, you will use Danny B's for towing and know they will be looking out for you. All you have to do is tell them you would like DANNY B's to tow your vehicle, they will call & have us dispatched right away. If you make the call yourself, let the police know. The majority of our calls are by owner request. Danny B's has a response time of 30 minutes or less. We'll work with you & continue to look out for for you from the time of the time of the crash until your car is returned from the body shop or an insurance company finds your car to be a total loss. We work for YOU. We are able to help you, by letting you know your legal rights. We do not deal with any shops who pay towers for crashes or repairable wrecks. Sadly, there are many of body shops who do pay a 'fee' to a wrecker driver to tow a wrecked vehicle to them. When all is said & done, where did the money come from???
Remember, motor clubs are for roadside service, auto insurance takes over when you are in a crash or parking lot fender bender. If you are in a crash, your health should / needs to be the main thing you have to worry about. We do our best not to add more stress to an already stressful time.
Yes, we will provide you with a ride home if needed. If you leave with EMS please be sure to leave the keys to your car. If you are not able to get your keys out of your vehicle, if we towed your car, call us as your leaving the hospital and we will gladly arrange for you to pick them up. If we are called in time & arrive prior to EMS leaving the crash site, we'll get them out and have Law Enforcement give you your other keys. Once your vehicle has been towed by us, it is locked in a secured storage lot. Only you or someone who has your permission will be allowed to remove anything from the vehicle. See releasing a vehicle.
If you are not able to move your vehicle, IF YOU ARE NOT INJURED, pay close attention to the traffic and move out of the roadway, go to a safe place, OUT OF HARMS WAY. A lot of motorist try to get something from their vehicle before the wrecker loads it or as a wrecker is backing up to the vehicle. For your safety we will tow it to a safe location (Out Of The Road) for you to remove your personal items. To keep from getting harmed please don't try to get in your vehicle as any tow truck is backing up to your vehicle.
If traffic is backed up, please let the wrecker go by you. The longer it takes for a wrecker to clear a crash site, the longer you'll have to wait. Also, keep in mind, law enforcement do not enjoy having to stand in the road and direct traffic, they are there because they must be, it's a part of their job they really do not enjoy, they would much rather be in their cars where they are protected from the traffic!
If you don't have full coverage and are at fault for the crash, get with the towing company ASAP, if you have a place to move it to do so as quickly as you can (Keep in mind, your front yard is not a good place, you'll end up getting a red tag from the law demanding you get it moved again) If your not insured for your vehicle to be repaired, a few wrecker companies will allow you to pay the actual tow bill and sign over the title so they can get the paper work to destroy the vehicle. Other wise it sits and storage is added to the bill, you'll get a notice for a lien and an auction date. Paper work all goes through DMV, you may end up with a lien against you and not able to get a tag/ drivers permit until the lien is paid in full. It's the law, we have to make them aware of vehicles that are not going to be repaired. We will try to work with you. The worst thing you can do is NOT contact us. We'll do our best to work with you as long as you stay in touch with us.
TRY not to let an auto insurance company scare you or to push you around. You do not have to have your vehicle moved right away or where they may they tell you to. Your going to be allowing a body shop to repair your vehicle, back to the 'PRE-wreck' condition. Check out a few body shops BEFORE you have your car released. Think of body shops as your cars doctor, a doctor who is going to do heart surgery. Make sure your going to be able to trust the shop & they have an open door policy (if you want to find out how things are going, your welcome to call) You may not feel comfortable with one of the "insurance companies" choice of shops. When they tell you they will not cover the work of a shop that is not on their list, don't let it upset you or feel like you MUST use one of their shops. In the State of Florida, the body shops stand behind their work, not the insurance companies. If something is not right, the insurance company will just tell you to take it back to the shop who did the repairs.
Insurance companies do not own body shops, they make deals with body shops. Moving it to a shop they tell you, may turn you into a 'claim number' waiting in line for repairs. Yes, a insurance company can give you a list of the shops they send vehicles to, yet in Florida the insured (you) have the right to use the shop you trust & want to work with.
I think it's a good idea to pick a few shops you may want to use, call them BEFORE they have your vehicle, leave a message or ask for someone to return your call 'about getting a quote or making an appointment to see about having work done to your vehicle." First of all see if someone will speak with you right then, Second, you shouldn't have to make an appointment, Third, see if or how long it takes them to return your call. See how your treated before they know who your insurance company is. The good body shops will take the time to talk to you when you call, return your call in a timely manor and will treat every one equally.
Some insurance companies do use very good shops, just make sure it's one you want to use.
